Oakland posted three runs in the second inning Friday, cruising to a 7-3 win. In the Saturday game two, the Athletics had a 2-0 lead after three innings but couldn’t hold it in a 3-2 loss. Starter Paul Blackburn posted 5.0 clean frames, five hits and four Ks with no walks.

Starter for the A’s on Sunday will be Adam Oller. In his 11 games (six starts) this year Oller is 1-3 with an 8.07 ERA. In 32.1 innings total he has 21 walks, 39 hits, 22 Ks and 29 earned runs to his name.

Over on the White Sox’ side, they posted a couple of runs in the seventh on Friday but couldn’t dig out of the hole. In the Saturday game two, Chicago got a two-run homer from Gavin Sheets to help along the way in the walk-off. Johnny Cueto went 7.0 frames with two earned, six hits and a walk.

Dylan Cease will take the mound for the start on Sunday for the Sox. So far this year Cease has 20 games under his belt with a 10-4 record and a 2.03 ERA. In 110.2 innings he’s managed 25 earned, 83 hits, 49 walks and 154 Ks.

The A’s are 4-9 in the last 13 Sunday games and 2-6 in the last eight in game three of a series. Oakland is 101-47 in their last 148 versus the AL Central.

Meanwhile, the Sox are 5-0 in the last five Sunday games and 5-1 in their last six in game three of a series. The under is 2-0-2 in Chicago’s last four in game three of a series.

PICK: I’m going to stay with the Sox in this one. Not going near it due to the thick line, though. Cease is having a very nice year, and he’s on a great run right now. In his last three starts alone, Cease has 18.2 clean frames under his belt with 13 hits and six walks in a trio of wins. As for Oller, he’s given up six earned in 9.1 innings over his last two starts. If Cease can keep it going Chicago should have the upper hand win-wise in the finale.
