Marvel’s Infinity Saga consisted of three phases, each ending with an “Avengers” feature and each with its own goals and aims. With the current Phase 4 though, where the MCU is headed isn’t so clear.
We’ve had teases of the multiverse with “Loki,” and the recent “Spider-Man” and “Doctor Strange” films. Teases of Julia Louis-Dreyfuss’ Contessa recruiting people. There are various new characters who could form a new Avengers team.
However none of it really seems to be coming together towards something bigger, it’s all teases for now. Speaking with Total Film ahead of the release of “Thor: Love and Thunder,” Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige promises he has a plan and answers will be forthcoming soon:
“As we’re nearing the end of Phase 4, I think people will start to see where this next saga is going. I think there have been many clues already, that are at least apparent to me, of where this whole saga is going. But we’ll be a little more direct about that in the coming months, to set a plan, so audiences who want to see the bigger picture can see a tiny, tiny, tiny bit more of the roadmap.”
“Thor: Love and Thunder” opens in cinemas on July 8th followed by “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” in November along with “She-Hulk: Attorney At Law” and two holiday specials later this year.
It’s likely with next year’s films and shows – “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” “The Marvels,” “Secret Invasion,” “Ironheart” and quite likely “Blade” – that things will become decidedly clearer.
