Tesla Owners Silicon Valley has released the third part of their four-hour long interview with Elon Musk, and this segment has perhaps the biggest news for Tesla fans.

Nearly three years after it was first unveiled, Musk revealed the Cybertruck’s design has been finalized. He didn’t get into details about the final design, but did start saying they “got too carried with the…,” before stopping himself, hinting that they have added a number of new features that were not included on the original prototype, and that they wanted to add even more.

With the design now “finally locked” as Musk described, he estimated “the middle of next year, roughly 12-months’ish” before it will enter production, putting the first Cybertruck hitting the road in the second half of 2023.

Musk did not say when we will get to see the final design, but the recent sightings of the alpha builds gives us hints as to what to expect.

One of the biggest and most controversial changes so far has been the addition of the wiper. The Cybertruck has a massive windshield, and until they are able to develop their laser wiper beams, we might be stuck with the large single wiper, although Musk did say that the final design would be different than what has been seen on recent builds.

Another addition has been the side mirrors, which are required due to regulations. Musk has said though that they will be easily removable by owners.

While some things have been added, there have also been some things that have been removed. The most obvious feature delete has been the door handles. We were able to capture a video of Musk opening the Cybertruck’s door at the Cyber Rodeo, and it appears there will be a button on the b-pillar that will pop open the door.

It also appears as though the doors will have automatic opening similar to the Model X, as we also captured footage of the door opening and closing several times while on stage at the Cyber Rodeo.

You can watch the full interview below, with the Cybertruck comments starting at 20:55.
