The St. Louis Cardinals and the Toronto Blue Jays meet in MLB action from Rogers Center on Wednesday.
The St. Louis Cardinals will look to bounce back from a 10-3 loss at the hands of the Blue Jays on Tuesday’s matchup. Entering Tuesday’s game, Nolan Arenado leads the Cards with 18 home runs along with 59 RBIs, 24 doubles, 102 hits and a .296 batting average while Tommy Edman has a .257 batting average and 96 hits with 3 triples, 7 home runs and 35 RBIs. Dylan Carlson has 21 doubles, Paul Goldschmidt has a team-high 118 hits, 28 doubles and a. 335 batting average with 24 home runs and 77 RBIs while Tyler O’Neill has 33 RBIs as well up to this point in the year. Adam Wainwright will start here and is 6-8 with a 3.40 ERA and 91 strikeouts this season.
The Toronto Blue Jays will look to sweep the two-game set with St. Louis after their beatdown win over the Cards on Tuesday. Going into Tuesday’s game, Bo Bichette leads the Blue Jays with 102 hits including 21 doubles, 14 home runs and 52 RBIs while Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has a team-high 20 home runs with 60 RBIs and 102 hits of his own and George Springer has 17 home runs with 43 RBIs as well this season. Santiago Espinal has 91 hits with 21 doubles and a .272 batting average while Lourdes Gurriel Jr. has 24 doubles on the year. Kevin Gausman will start here and is 7-7 with a 3.00 ERA and 116 strikeouts this season.
st. Louis is 2-6 in their last 8 road games and 1-5 in their last 6 Wednesday games while the under is 10-2 in their last 12 games against a team with a winning record. Toronto is 16-5 in their last 21 interleague home games and 5-1 in their last 6 home games while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 interleague games.
I get the case to be made for either side here, but I’m looking at the over. I’m not sure the game will be as one-sided as Tuesday’s game, but Adam Wainwright, despite turning in solid numbrs at age 40, has been struggling big time on the road and Toronto’s offense is clearly clicking right now. However, I’m not 100% sold on Gausman either and I just think this is another game that inishes well into double digits so give me the over here.
