But WHO warns giving continental body power to declare health emergencies could pose risks
The World Health Organization’s Africa chapter has denied opposing proposals to give the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which it helped set up, a freer rein to declare and respond to health emergencies on the continent.
On 15 July the development news site Devex published a story alleging that WHO had lobbied some African health ministers to rein in a proposal that would give the Africa CDC more autonomy.
